Belabo and Bhairab upazilas on the north, Narsingdi Sadar, Bancharampur and Nabinagar upazilas on the south, Brahmanbaria Sadar and Nasirnagar upazilas on the east, Shibpur and Narsingdi Sadar upazilas on the west.

During the War of Liberation the Pakistan army pitched camp at the present upazila building and set on fire many villages. The freedom fighters destroyed many bridges and culverts of the upazila to disrupt communication of the Pak army.
